The Spine Corrector. Sounds a little painful, huh? The Spine Corrector is one of my favorite apparatus (let’s be real- they are all my favorite!). I love how it facilitates an open spine, a lengthening of the upper back and strengthening the back body!
The Spine Corrector helps elongate the stretch in the spine, which eventually creates a backbend which progresses to the high bridge. Having flashbacks to your gymnastics class when you were five years old? Don’t worry…there are many exercises along the way that will help open, strengthen and lengthen your body to be able to execute an exercise such as this.
Joseph Pilates said “If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.” I couldn’t agree more! That one sentence is exactly why I think the spine corrector should be used more often! So many of us are hunched over, typing away at a desk all day long! The Spine Corrector is the perfect way to help reverse that curvature and create more stretch in the upper chest! It may be a little uncomfortable at first but I promise it will get better and one day you will be able to do high bridge! Remember…like in life, it’s not just about the destination…it’s also about the journey!
